“Eclipse” Soundtrack Revealed: I’m Always In This TWILIGHT

Despite the cheesiness of it all, the “Twilight” saga continues to attract top-shelf indie rock artists for its soundtracks. What’s more, these artists contribute new songs to be background noise to a vampire/human/werewolf love triangle soap opera, in order to gain the notice (and dollars) of millions of breathless females worldwide — while enraging pitchfork.com-reading loyalists who cry “Sell out!”

For the third film of the five-part series (“Breaking Dawn” will be two films), the soundtrack lineup includes two of my favorite Brits — Bat for Lashes and Florence + the Machine. These ladies definitely know what’s up when it comes to fantasy (see BFL “Horse and I”) and overwhelming passion (see BFL “Daniel”).

Florence always struck me as a “Twilight” fan given the bombastic chorus of “Cosmic Love” (“I’m always in this TWILIGHT”) and the lovesick wolf-hunter narrative of “Howl.”

I am pleasantly surprised to see a contribution from Australian singer Sia. This YouTube fan video of Robert Pattinson and Kristen Stewart’s “Vanity Fair” shoot featuring Sia’s song “Breathe Me” was sexier than the entire “Twilight” movie. It’s no coincidence, I’m sure, that “Breathe Me” was featured as the trailer for Rob’s recent movie “Remember Me” or that Sia is now on the “Eclipse” soundtrack.

It’s quite an international indie lineup, actually. Canadians (Metric), a Scientologist (Beck), and some Ivy League Americans (Vampire Weekend):

1. Metric – “Eclipse (All Yours)”

2. Muse – “Neutron Star Collision (Love Is Forever)”

3. The Bravery – “Ours”

4. Florence + The Machine – “Heavy In Your Arms”

5. Sia – “My Love”

6. Fanfarlo – “Atlas”

7. The Black Keys – “Chop And Change”

8. The Dead Weather – “Rolling In On A Burning Tire”

9. Beck and Bat For Lashes – “Let’s Get Lost”

10. Vampire Weekend – “Jonathan Low”

11. UNKLE – “With You In My Head (featuring The Black Angels)”

12. Eastern Conference Champions – “A Million Miles An Hour”

13. Band Of Horses – “Life On Earth”

14. Cee-Lo Green – “What Part Of Forever”

15. Howard Shore – “Jacob’s Theme”

Daniel Radcliffe and the Adorable Interview (NYC Premiere of “Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince”

At the New York premiere of “Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince,” Daniel Radcliffe politely bypassed the adult reporters to speak to an 11-year old reporter from Scholastic News. Read the transcript at the New York Magazine website here.

The premiere looks absolutely mobbed, but imagine what would have happened if Cedric Diggory aka Robert Pattinson had showed up. Poor Rob is part of a circus now, filming “Remember Me” in Manhattan, surrounded by gawking teenage girls from all over the world and aggressive paparazzi. I’ll bet he’ll only film movies during the school months going forward. In isolated African deserts.

It’s a Harry Potter Thing: Robert Pattinson in Manhattan, Emma Watson in Burberry

One of the highlights of my trip to London a couple of years ago was going to the prop Platform 9 ¾ at Kings Cross Railway Station in London. The faux gateway features a trolley cart partway through the wall for all the Harry Potter fans to gleefully latch onto for photo ops.

After being Karl Lagerfeld’s muse – Emma Watson continues to build her fashionista cred as the face of Burberry. “The brightest witch of her age” is looking very grown-up indeed.

Robert Pattinson  – the ill-fated Cedric Diggory and everyone’s favorite boy vampire –  is in Manhattan prepping for a movie. Unsurprisingly, he’s been drinking (spotted at the divey Black & White in the East Village and the swanky Rose Bar at the Gramercy Hotel) and probably practicing his 100-meter dash to escape paparazzi and women of all ages.
