Electronica Love: “Letting the Cables Sleep” by Bush, N.O.W. remix

The band Bush is touring again, albeit with new guitarists. A new album entitled The Sea of Memories is due out in September. Lead singer Gavin Rossdale was a ’90s grunge heartthrob, but these days he is more famous for being married to No Doubt lead singer Gwen Stefani.

Speaking of the sea and memories, my favorite Bush song is a downtempo remix of “Letting the Cables Sleep” featured on Cafe del Mar compilation Vol. 7. Cafe del Mar is a famous beachside bar in Ibiza known for its chill-out music and sunset views. This song is a perfect soundtrack for such a setting: You in the sea/On a decline/Breaking the waves/Watching the lights go down/Letting the cables sleep.

I wonder what Ibiza is like these days; I’ve always enjoyed Balearic electronica.

You in the dark
You in the pain
You on the run
Living a hell
Living your ghost
Living your end
Never seem to get in the place that I belong
Don’t wanna lose the time
Lose the time to come

Whatever you say it’s alright
Whatever you do it’s all good
Whatever you say it’s alright
Silence is not the way
We need to talk about it
If heaven is on the way
If heaven is on the way

You in the sea
On a decline
Breaking the waves
Watching the lights go down
Letting the cables sleep

Whatever you say it’s alright
Whatever you do it’s all good
Whatever you say it’s alright
Silence is not the way
We need to talk about it
If heaven is on the way
We’ll wrap the world around it
If heaven is on the way
If heaven is on the way
